I Rake-Off nascono a Roma nel febbraio 2016 dall’idea di quattro amici che vogliono tornare a fare musica insieme dopo anni.
Dopo alcuni mesi di composizione in sala prove e un paio di concerti, la band raggiunge una linea stilistica propria e incide In Twentysixteen, tape di 9 canzoni stampata in 50 pezzi. Il sound è tagliente e diretto e trova ispirazione nell’hardcore americano di fine anni ‘90/primi 2000 strizzando l’occhio al metal e al punk, mentre i testi spaziano da tematiche politico-sociali ad argomenti più intimi ed esistenziali.
Pochi mesi dopo l’uscita di In Twentysixteen avviene il primo cambio di line-up con l’ingresso di Mirko e Stefano, da poco fuoriusciti dai GrandTheftAge, adottando quindi una formazione a cinque.
Dopo alcuni mesi, Fabio (aka Straccio) si trasferisce a Berlino per lavoro e Banfio passa dal basso alla voce mentre al basso subentra Valerio, già attivo con progetti quali Gas Attack, The Fourth Sin, Choke Wire, Dirty Jobs e altri.
Questi due cambiamenti si rivelano subito cruciali per il sound della band, che diventa più potente e veloce. Questo aspetto è evidente nella produzione successiva. Nel dicembre 2017 esce infatti Feeding The Fake, full length prodotto da CBC records, grazie al quale l’attività live della band diventa particolarmente intensa.
Con una line-up ormai stabile e ben rodata, alla fine del 2018 iniziano le incisioni di Goin’ Mental, che introduce nuovi elementi stilistici nel sound della band, che unisce alle sonorità tipicamente hardcore alcuni aspetti del crossover thrash e del metal punk degli anni ‘80. Il disco esce a giugno del 2019.

Rake-Off were born in Rome in February 2016 from four friends who wanted to start making music together again, after some years.
After a few months of composition in the rehearsal room and a couple of shows, the band recorded In Twentysixteen, a 9 songs tape printed in 50 pieces. The sound is sharp and direct and finds inspiration in the late 90s / early 2000 American hardcore with oldschool metal and punk elements as well, while the lyrics range from political-social themes to more intimate and existential topics.
A few months after the release of In Twentysixteen, the first change of formation took place with the entry of Mirko and Stefano (formerly in GrandTheftAge) thus Rake-Off adopted a five-line formation.
After a few months, Fabio (aka Straccio) moved to Berlin, Banfio switched from bass to voice and Valerio (already active with projects such as Gas Attack, The Fourth Sin, Choke Wire, Dirty Jobs and others) became the new bass player.
These changes affected immediately the sound of the band, which became faster and more powerful. This aspect is evident in the subsequent production. In December 2017, indeed, Feeding The Fake, a full length album produced by CBC records, came out, thanks to which the live activity of the band became particularly intense.
With a stable and well-established line-up, at the end of 2018 the recordings of Goin 'Mental begun. The album, released in june 2019, presents new stylistic elements in the band's sound, which combines a typical hardcore sound with crossover thrash and metal punk.
